Thursday, April 9, 2026. Aroem Mahakam Restaurant, Café & Ballroom, Jakarta.
The room was already full before 9:30 a.m. It wasn’t because of the door prizes—though those certainly added their own appeal. Rather, it was because the topic discussed that day was a genuine concern in many Indonesian corporate boardrooms: how to secure networks in an era where cyber threats move faster than the IT teams tasked with protecting them.
The event, titled “Modernize Your Security with SASE & NGFW,” was co-hosted by Perkom, Virtus Technology Indonesia, and Palo Alto Networks—three names that each carry significant weight within Indonesia’s enterprise technology ecosystem.
SASE, or Secure Access Service Edge, is an approach that unifies security and network connectivity into a single cloud-based architecture. It moves away from the model where all traffic must first be routed to a central data center before accessing the internet—a model that is slow and impractical for a distributed workforce. With SASE, security follows users wherever they are, not the other way around.
NGFW, or Next-Generation Firewall, is an evolution of the conventional firewall, which is no longer sufficient to address modern threats. NGFW doesn’t just block or allow traffic based on ports and protocols—it understands context, analyzes content, recognizes applications, and even detects suspicious behavior that previous-generation firewalls couldn’t see.
Together, when deployed within the Palo Alto Networks ecosystem, they create a layer of protection that spans from the smallest branch office to the largest cloud infrastructure—with full visibility and centralized management.
This session was led by three speakers, each offering a distinct yet complementary perspective.
Panji Adiprabowo, Channel System Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, opened the session with an overview of the current cyber threat landscape and explained how modern security architectures need to be redesigned from the ground up, rather than simply patched here and there.
Abel Dimas Wisesa Putra Silvian, Technical Consultant at Virtus Technology Indonesia, delved into the technical details—how these solutions are implemented in the field, what needs to be prepared, and what pitfalls organizations often face when modernizing their network security.
Muhammad Luqman, Head of Tech Consulting at Cisometric, concluded with a consulting perspective—how companies should evaluate their security readiness, and where the most critical gaps are typically found.
The common thread among all three: good network security isn’t about buying the most expensive products, but about having the right strategy, proper implementation, and comprehensive visibility.
At the end of the event, a few lucky participants took home exclusive prizes—smartwatches, earbuds, and other devices that had been waiting on stage since early morning.
But what was even more valuable was the insight they took home: that modernizing network security isn’t just an IT project. It’s a business decision that determines how resilient an organization can be in the face of threats that never sleep.
Perkom is proud to be part of this important conversation and will continue to create spaces like this, where technology and real business needs meet head-on.
